Top Ten Tuesday: Special Editions on My Wishlist

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. How it works is that each Tuesday the host assigns a topic and then posts their top ten list that fits the topic. Every blogger can create their own top ten (or 2, 5, 20, etc.) list as well and link to the host’s. The topic for December 25th, 2018 is: Books I Hope I Find Under My Christmas Tree This Morning. I personally don’t celebrate Christmas, so I’m going to be talking about all the books I want rare and special editions of.

    1. If I have the means next year, I’ll definitely send a copy across of THUG. ♥️ The first edition of The Wicked Deep is out of print now though. The author runs giveaways on her social media and I enter every single one in the hopes I can get a copy. I’ll let you know next time. Maybe you’ll get lucky! 😊 Merry Christmas, Marie! 💖

      1. OHhh no really I had NO idea it was out of print now, that’s too bad! I have the book as an ebook, but that first edition is way too pretty haha 🙂 I hope you’ll get lucky, Fingers crossed! ❤ ❤

    1. That’s fair! I mostly like UK covers (Circe is definitely one) but sometimes I think I should splurge and get the US ones. Oh and Folio is based in UK, so if you’re from/near there, the shipping charges are so much more manageable! 😅

Thank you and same to you! ♥️

  1. If those folio editions don’t feel fantastic I’ll just cry!! But oh my word those covers (of all of them) look amazing!

I’m definitely planning on getting the Percy Jackson illustrated series some day. When I’m living on my own and all my walls are covered in bookshelves 😂

We did Secret Santa so my cousin got me The Clash of Kings and an exchange card in case I don’t like it – which I’m going to use as I prefer to tv series to the books..

    1. You should totally treat yourself to the Folio editions of the Tolkien books. They are SO worth it! ☺️

Yes, I have the same plan with regard to Percy. After that I’m going to re-read the series with those editions. The perfect book lover’s dream. 😂

I haven’t read the books in the ASoIaF series and don’t plan to. Even the TV show isn’t holding my interest. I haven’t watched Season 7 yet. Maybe I’ll binge-watch it once the 8th one is out so I get some kind of closure that George R. R. Martin definitely isn’t planning on giving to his fans. 😂

    1. Isn’t it? It’s better than all the other covers out there! I really want that edition! I think I’ll save up and get it for myself later, maybe around my birthday. 😍
Season’s greetings to you, Cam! 😊 It’s been a while since we connected. 🙈

I didn’t receive any books this Christmas but I gifted some myself so that’s a good thing, I guess XD I know how much you like Rick Riordan’s works so seeing Percy Jackson’s edition doesn’t surprise me, haha. I want the To All the Boys one too! The covers are so cute and real and so pretty ❤ Loved this list! I hope you get these editions soon!

    1. That’s so kind, Fanna! I’m sure the good deed will return to you tenfold. 😊 Haha, yeah, I’ll snatch Rick’s books up in any and all formats. 🙈

To All the Boys series has honestly some of the best cover designs for a contemporary series. There’s representation on the cover, it fits completely with the MC’s personality and the tone of the book, and they all match! 😍

Thank you and I wish you get the ones on your list soon as well! ♥️

  3. Ooh, I tried for awhile to get my hands on a US hardcover of Uprooted, browsing AbeBooks and such, but I didn’t want to pay what sellers were asking. I don’t think there were many printed! I just have the paperback now.

‘One’ book (technically a boxed set of three volumes) I received for Christmas is the JRR Tolkien Companion and Guide. Its size makes me feel like it’s a ‘special’ edition, lol.

    1. Yes, the hardback is so hard to find! I love the design and would like to have matching sets for Uprooted and Spinning Silver. I’ll let you know if I find anything at a decent price. 😊 Wow, that sounds like a wonderful Christmas gift! I haven’t read any companions/guides but I’m excited to do so after I’ve checked out some other works by Tolkien, and of course, finish The Silmarillion. 🙈😄

    1. I couldn’t agree more! Oh, it’s sold on this website called Folio Society. They’re based in the UK, so if you’re from around there, shipping is quite cheap. The books themselves are pricey but they’re very special editions. You can also get the entire Lord of the Rings series with a similar design but in green. I own those already. 😅
