Summary

(adapted from Goodreads)

Meredith Alice Hughes has found herself falling through a portal and into Wonderland. There, she finds some of her classmates, who are actually fictional characters from Lewis Carroll’s “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland”, and they use a potion to make her forget everything. Everything would have been fine, that is, until the White Rabbit tries to murder her and she finds herself in Wonderland once more. Apparently, according to a prophecy, Alice is the only one who can save Wonderland from the Cirque de Rêves, a group that is trying to destroy and takeover the world. Will Alice believe in herself enough to defeat the Cirque de Rêves? Or will she fall victim to the dark thoughts that reside in her heart?

Thoughts

Note: I received a free e-copy of the book via Net Galley in exchange for an honest review

This is light-hearted read that fans of Lewis Carroll’s work will certainly enjoy. There is no complex plot or any unexpected twists, but the adorable characters and the magical setting are the strong points of the book. The journey that the main character goes through is something we all need to be reminded of and I believe people of any age group can get something out of this simple tale of magic and friendship.

Recommendations

I would recommend this book to fans of Lewis Carroll’s original and those looking for a good teenage adventure.

For the music, I listened to the soundtrack of the Tim Burton movie, Alice in Wonderland, which fit the atmosphere of the book perfectly.

Recommended food would be mushrooms and tarts, of course. If you’ve read the original, you know why.
