Summer BiBib Day #6 – 25 Bookish Facts About Me

Ahem, I don’t know why anyone would want to know facts about me, but I’m all about getting these challenges done, so I’ll try to think of some. This challenge is exactly as it sounds and is hosted by wolflibby0914. For those of you who don’t know, I’m taking part in all of the blog challenges of the Summer Biannual Bibliothon. Day 6 being the penultimate day, I must say that I had such a blast with this read-a-thon and am yet to complete only one of the books to finish of all the reading challenges. I couldn’t take part in the Twiter sprints, unfortunately, but one can’t have everything, I suppose. Alright, let’s get to the post itself now.

Summer BiBib Day #5 – Character Connections

I’m falling behind on this, but I’m going to get all of the challenges done anyway because I’m stubborn like that. I’m really not doing this to win any of the giveaways, I just like to challenge myself to blog consistently and post about books. If you’re new here, I’m doing all of the blogging challenges for the Summer Biannual Bibliothon and today’s challenge is hosted by Ashley from Inside My Minds.

The challenge: Discuss no more than two characters that you have connected with on a more personal level. And then pick a situation that the character was in and discuss what they should have done differently if you feel that they should have done something differently. It is possible that you don’t think a character should have done something differently.

Summer BiBib Day #4 – 3 Stars or Less

So far, this week has been a super-productive reading week and I can’t believe how well I’ve been doing! I didn’t expect to finish books in a day on weekdays and had planned a quiet weekend where I could fly through books, but I’m beginning to suspect that may not be necessary at all. On that happy note, let’s get a little critical on today’s challenge. It is hosted by Nikki and Amy from Bursting with Books and encourages us to talk about a book we rated 3 stars or less. A few words from the creators:

A lot of people seem to shy away from talking about books they rated poorly. But I find them to often be quite intriguing. If a reviewer only ever talks about books they loved, you don’t get to see that other side of the spectrum. And when you’re critiquing books, of course, you want to be as honest as possible. So I suppose I just wanted to hear what all of your guys’ thoughts on your lower-rated books are! I love hearing different opinions. It creates discussion. And that’s what we’re all here for, right? 😉

Summer BiBib Day #3 – The Villain’s Synopsis

fb_img_1500965471092

This is probably my best week of blogging. Today’s challenge is hosted by Dominique from Pirates and Pixie Dust. It’s such a refreshing and interesting challenge that really got me thinking. Here’s the challenge in the creator’s own words:

For today’s blog challenge, we’re going to write a synopsis! You’ll find the regular synopsis on the back of the book, the inside jacket flap, or on Goodreads. Now, that’s all fine and dandy, but we always get the story from the protagonist’s perspective.

-BUT WHAT IF-

the back of the book was written from the villain’s point of view?

Well. I’m glad you asked! Because this is exactly what our challenge is today!

Book Review – When Dimple Met Rishi

Title: When Dimple Met Rishi

Author: Sandhya Menon

Genre: Young Adult (Contemporary) [Bonus: #OwnVoices novel]

Published: By Simon Pulse on May 30th, 2017

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars

Summary

(adapted from Goodreads)

A laugh-out-loud, heartfelt YA romantic comedy, told in alternating perspectives, about two Indian-American teens whose parents have arranged for them to be married.

Dimple Shah has it all figured out. With graduation behind her, she’s more than ready for a break from her family, from Mamma’s inexplicable obsession with her finding the “Ideal Indian Husband.” Ugh.

Rishi Patel is a hopeless romantic. So when his parents tell him that his future wife will be attending the same summer program as him—wherein he’ll have to woo her—he’s totally on board. Because as silly as it sounds to most people in his life, Rishi wants to be arranged, believes in the power of tradition, stability, and being a part of something much bigger than himself.

Dimple and Rishi may think they have each other figured out. But when opposites clash, love works hard to prove itself in the most unexpected ways.

My Ambitious #SummerBiBib & #BTAT17 TBR

I had to abandon my usual plans for my blog posts because this week I’m taking part in two of the most popular read-a-thons in existence – the Biannual Bibliothon and BookTube-A-Thon. If you haven’t heard about them (and I’d be surprised if that’s the case), I’ll leave the links to the introductory videos below so you can check them out. It’s never too late to hop on board! Trying to find books that fit into the reading challenges of both the read-a-thons took me a while, but I managed to figure something out. It’s highly ambitious since my work+commute eats up 13 hours of my time. I’m trying to squeeze in some reading during the commute and during my lunch hour in office. But I’m pretty sure I’ll be doing most of my reading on the weekends. Without further ado, let me tell you what books I plan on reading.
