Top 5 Unfinished Series on My 2019 TBR

Top Five Tuesday is hosted by Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm. The topics for each month are announced in the previous month. Each participant shall post their top five list and pingback to the host’s. The topic for September 3rd, 2019 is: Top 5 Series I Need To Finish.

1. The First Law trilogy by Joe Abercrombie

This series has suddenly jumped to the top of my priority list due to sheer dumb luck and poor choices on my part. I was lounging on NetGalley one day and decided to request A Little Hatred, the seventh book set in this world, because so many book bloggers were hyping it up, quite confident in the fact that I would be declined. The next morning I woke up to an email from NetGalley that I had been approved and I definitely want to have A Little Hatred reviewed by the end of the year, which means a lot of Joe Abercrombie on my TBR.

2. Remembrance of the Earth’s Past trilogy by Cixin Liu

I finished the first book in this series, The Three-Body Problem, last month and completely fell in love with it. I discovered my sci-fi sweet spot through this book, which was not surprising given how much of a science nerd I am and yet it took me so long to get started with this series. I am very eager to know what happens next and I’m trying not to let the length of the audiobooks intimidate me.

3. The Winternight trilogy by Katherine Arden

I have the entire trilogy with me with the US covers because I have heard nothing but rave things about it. However, this is a classic case of ‘I just haven’t found the time to get to it yet’. The covers have a very wintry vibe to them, so I’ll probably save them for when the temperature drops outside.

4. Strange the Dreamer duology by Laini Taylor

I actually bought the completed duology last year and tried to read Strange the Dreamer, but had to put it down because I just wasn’t in the mood for it at the time. I was listening to the audiobook then and it wasn’t working for me, so I want to crack open my hardcover when I start it again, which should hopefully be some time soon. It was also featured in my Top 10 High Priority Books on My 2019 TBR list.

5. The Wrath and the Dawn duology by Renée Ahdieh

I’m not sure if I’ll get to this book this year but I want to try my best. I read the first book in 2017 and liked it enough to give it 4 stars. As it didn’t make my favourites list, The Rose and the Dagger isn’t a priority, but I’d like the sense of accomplishment I’ll get after finishing this series as well, so it all depends on my reading mood and how much time I get to read during the rest of 2019.
