Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. How it works is that each Tuesday the host assigns a topic and then posts their top ten list that fits the topic. Every blogger can create their own top ten (or 2, 5, 20, etc.) list as well and link to the host’s. The topic for June 18th, 2019 was: Most Anticipated Releases of the Second Half of 2019. As I was on hiatus on that day, I decided to post about my anticipated releases today.
July 2019
Spin the Dawn by Elizabeth Lim (9 Jul – US)
A thrilling tale as rich as velvet and as exquisite as fine embroidery.
― Heidi Heilig
Jade War by Fonda Lee (23 Jul – US, 25 Jul – US)
This worthy continuation of the larger story line delivers a satisfying tale and sets the stage for the next installment.
― Publishers Weekly (starred review)
August 2019
The Dragon Republic by R. F. Kuang (6 Aug – US, 8 Aug – UK)
The Dragon Republic is a brilliantly unputdownable sequel that deflects the infamous middle book syndrome with brutal precision.
― Novel Notions
September 2019
A House of Rage and Sorrow by Sangu Mandanna (17 Sep – US, 19 Sep – UK)
A rare gem of a sequel that manages to be even better than the first book! Each page drips with action and moral complexities, and plot twists that will both make and break your heart.
― Natasha Ngan
Tyrant’s Tomb by Rick Riordan (24 Sep)
Riordan sets a blistering pace for this book, making it hard to put down and even when the story takes a break from the action, there is some mystery to be revealed or some dream to visit.
― The Nerd Daily
October 2019
The Secret Commonwealth by Philip Pullman (3 Oct – US, UK)
It’s a stunning achievement, this universe Pullman has created and continues to build on.
― The New York Times
The Beautiful by Renée Ahdieh (8 Oct – US, UK)
New York Times bestselling author Renée Ahdieh returns with a sumptuous, sultry and romantic new series set in 19th century New Orleans where vampires hide in plain sight.
Tristan Strong Punches a Hole in the Sky by Kwame Mbalia (15 Oct – US, 17 Oct – UK)
Pitched as an MG American Gods, the book stars a seventh-grade boy who accidentally creates a hole into the Midpass, a world where ancient African gods clash with gods of African-American legend.
The Never Tilting World by Rin Chupeco (15 Oct – US)
The Never Tilting World is what happens when Garth Nix meets Mad Max: Fury Road. It’s a dark, lovely, and even timely look at a world that’s fallen apart, with just the right blend of epic action and twisted magic.
― Tara Sim
A River of Royal Blood by Amanda Joy (29 Oct – US)
A dark and bloody delight of a debut, Amanda Joy’s A River of Royal Blood is a seductive tapestry of extraordinary magick delving into the terrifying lengths we will go to claim our destiny.
― Dhonielle Clayton
Nov 2019
Girls of Storm and Shadow by Natasha Ngan (5 Nov – US)
Love stories between women are still disappointingly few in fantasy, and romance and action fans alike will find much to savor here.
― Booklist
Song of the Crimson Flower by Julie C. Dao (5 Nov – US)
From the acclaimed author of Forest of a Thousand Lanterns comes a fantastical new tale of darkness and love, in which magical bonds are stronger than blood.
Realm of Ash by Tasha Suri (14 Nov – UK)
A spellbinding fantasy novel set in the Mughal India-inspired world of Empire of Sand, perfect for readers of City of Brass and The Wrath & the Dawn.
Blood Heir by Amélie Wen Zhao (19 Nov – US, 21 Nov – UK)
This hot debut is the first book in an epic new series about a princess hiding a dark secret and the con man she must trust to clear her name for her father’s murder.
December 2019
Children of Virtue and Vengeance by Tomi Adeyemi (3 Dec – US)
Tomi Adeyemi has created a lush, vibrant world, full of legend and lore, more than enough to sate even the most ravenous fantasy fan.
– Melinda Salisbury

ALL OF THESE ARE ON MY TBRS! I haven’t read the first book for some of the series – I can’t find them in the online library I am a part of or in bookstores locally, and I can’t buy books yet (boo, book buying bans!) but I am still SO EXCITED!

This is literally my TBR for the rest of the year! All of these books sound incredible. I’m also really looking forward to A Light at the Bottom of the World by London Shah (more dystopian SFF) and Crier’s War by Nina Varela.
