Top Ten Tuesday: Books on My Winter TBR (2018)

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. How it works is that each Tuesday the host assigns a topic and then posts their top ten list that fits the topic. Every blogger can create their own top ten (or 2, 5, 20, etc.) list as well and link to the host’s. The topic for December 18th, 2018 is: Winter TBR. I love making TBRs but I rarely ever stick to them. Looking back at my older TBR posts, I found that my Summer TBR had a 70% success rate and my Fall TBR fared even worse with only a 30% hit rate. I want to be smarter about this season’s TBR so I actually pick books I’m very excited about and will positively read soon. Feel free to check back in spring and yell at me if I don’t have at least a 70% with this one!

The Winternight trilogy by Katherine Arden

The third and final instalment is coming out on January 8th and I want to binge all the books this winter because they just seem so perfect! I’ve heard nothing but rave reviews for this one, so I have very high expectations from it.

All the Wandering Light by Heather Fawcett

I can’t believe I haven’t already read it because it’s my most anticipated sequel of the year! I intend to remedy the situation as soon as possible though because this is another book that needs to be read burrowed under warm blankets.

Strange the Dreamer duology by Laini Taylor

The costliest and most precious editions I’ve bought, I abandoned the first book two months ago and haven’t picked it up since. The audiobook wasn’t working for me and I decided to read the physical copies, so I hope that putting them on this list will spur me into action.

The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi

If I had to pick only one book to read in 2019, this would be the one. I’ve been eagerly anticipating its release since it was announced and I’m all kinds of excited to pre-order it as a new year gift to myself! (I’m currently on a book buying ban.)

God’s Forsaken by David Brevik

I’ve mentioned it in a couple of my monthly TBRs now, but in case you haven’t read those, this is a review copy I desperately need to finish before the end of the year. Something about the writing style just wasn’t working for me and I set it aside but hopefully I can power through it soon.

Time Crawlers by Varun Sayal

Another review copy that has spilled over from my November TBR and needs to be read as soon as possible. I have a huge list of review copies that are threatening to drown me and I really need to make a solid dent into that list! Since this is a short story collection, I’m hoping it’ll go by quickly.

The Grace of Kings by Ken Liu

I discovered an amazing podcast called Books and Boba that promotes Asian literature and even has a monthly book club! I’m going to be reading along from January 2019 and they have picked out this book for their first read next year. I’m not very good at sticking to book club picks, but I’m very interested in this one as it sounds right up my alley.
