Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. How it works is that each Tuesday the host assigns a topic and then posts their top ten list that fits the topic. Every blogger can create their own top ten (or 2, 5, 20, etc.) list as well and link to the host’s. The topic for September 25th, 2018 is: Books By My Favourite Authors That I Still Haven’t Read. I’m very guilty of not reading outside of a few books that I love by the lovely humans I consider my favourite writers. Without trying to make any excuses for this unacceptable bookworm behaviour, let me show you my list.
1. The Silmarillion by J. R. R. Tolkien
I tried buddy reading this with Jenna @ Falling Letters way back in March but life got in the way and I’m only less than chapters in whereas Jenna went ahead and finished it like the conscientious reader she is.
Finish by 2018 – High priority
2. Cormoran Strike series by Robert Galbraith (J. K. Rowling)
I’ve been putting this off because this obviously has a very different feel compared to Harry Potter and I don’t think I’m ready for it. I’m not sure if that makes any sense, but that’s the way I’m currently feeling.
Finish by 2018 – Not likely
3. Star-Touched Stories by Roshani Chokshi
This is a collection of short stories set in The Star-Touched Queen world, which takes inspiration from Indian mythology. I’ve absolutely adored Roshani’s previous two books and a chance to explore this beautiful world further is something I’m really looking forward to.
Finish by 2018 – Low priority
4. From Twinkle, With Love by Sandhya Menon
This came out in summer this year and I have no excuse for not having read it other than the fact that I just haven’t been in the mood to pick it up. Sandhya is one of my favourite contemporary authors, so I’m sure I’ll love this one but since I’m a huge mood reader, it has been a little difficult for me to fit this in.
Finish by 2018 – High priority
5. Mirrorworld series by Cornelia Funke
I didn’t know this series existed until about a few months ago when I saw a glowing review by Cait @ Paper Fury, after which of course my curiosity was piqued. I don’t have a goal for this yet, but it’s definitely a series I want to read!
Finish by 2018 – Not likely
6. The Famous Five series by Enid Blyton
Yes, I’m probably too old for this now and yes, I still want to read it. I was more of a Five Find-Outers and Dog fan rather than this one as a child because I was apparently a hipster back then but this has remained on my TBR for more than ten years now.
Finish by 2018 – Low priority
7. The Stormlight Archives by Brandon Sanderson
I’m a huge fan of the Mistborn trilogy and I know Sanderson is a master at crafting brilliant fantasy stories. I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about this series as well but I’m just a little intimated by the size because my schedule is a mess these days.
Finish by 2018 – Not likely
8. The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman
I don’t think I’ve met a single person who has read Gaiman and is not impressed by him. While I feel like I’m not the biggest fan of his quirky storytelling, I really want to read all of his books.
Finish by 2018 – Low priority
9. A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
He is yet another beloved author whose works I need to check out more. I fell in love with The Rest of Us Just Live Here because I read it at the perfect moment and I’m waiting for the right mood to come along to read this one as I have a feeling it will emotionally wreck me.
Finish by 2018 – Low priority
10. The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken
I wanted to read it in time for the movie adaptation, which came out a few months back, but I obviously didn’t make it. I’m waiting for the dystopian craving to strike me again before I pick this series up because I think I will be binging the series.
Finish by 2018 – Not likely

I love Star-Touched Stories so much! You’re going to love it if you are as big a fan as I was of the duology. Happy reading!

Although TSTQ wasn’t the best for me personally, ACOW more than made up for it! Also, the world-building in this series is amazing, so short stories set in it sound like just the thing for me. 😍 Thank you for sharing your opinion! Now I’m more eager read it and soon. 😊

This is a great list! I only read the first book in the Star touched queen duology, but I absolutely loved the way it was written, it was so beautiful and I really want to read more from the author now, too 😀
I also loved When Dimple Met Rishi and am looking forward to reading Twinkle just as well at some point 😀

I can’t bring myself to read anything written by JK Rowling that isn’t Harry Potter, it’s too much to live up to!

Twinkle is on my TBR too since I loved DImple 😀 I hope we both get to read the book soon.
One such author for me is Julie Murphy. I read Dumplin last year and I totally loved it. I pre-ordered Puddin’ and still after so many months of getting it, I haven’t read it 😛 I guess we all are guilty in one way or another 😀

We should totally make Twinkle our next fluffy group read! 🙂 Haha, yes, the reader guilt is really high for me. Oops!

Yeah, The Silmarillion is a tough read, just because of the kind of book it is. How are you tackling it, so to speak, now that you’re not buddy-reading it? I read one chapter / story from it every time I finished a full-length book, which made it easier to digest because of how dry and “textbook-like” its contents can be at times.
Also, I hope you enjoy The Ocean at the End of the Lane when you finally get to it. And I’d like to check out the Cormorant Strike novels, too. But like you, I don’t typically read mysteries / thrillers, so I might borrow the first book from the library. And if I like it, then I’ll buy it.
I like this TTT topic a lot. Maybe I’ll have to take it on myself in the near future… But not until I finish your Fellowship tag and a second tag that another blogger friend nominated me for recently. 😉 Anyway, off the top of my head, here are some of my favorite authors and books of theirs I own but have yet to read:
– Ursula K. Le Guin / “The Beginning Place” and “The Word for World Is Forest”
– Neil Gaiman / “Coraline” and “Anansi Boys”
– Nova Ren Suma / “Imaginary Girls”
– Maria V. Snyder / “Dawn Study”
– Laini Taylor / “Night of Cake and Puppets”

Omg Enid Blyton 😍
I read each and every one of her book that I could lay hands on, that author was my childhood favorite ❤️

I was exactly the same! 😍 I’m not sure if her books have aged well but I really want to finish the Famous Five series and find out!

What do you mean by aged well?

I mean if it holds the same charm now as it did for me as a kid. It can also refer to the relevance of a book years after its release.
