Top Ten Tuesday: Unread Books by My Favourite Authors

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. How it works is that each Tuesday the host assigns a topic and then posts their top ten list that fits the topic. Every blogger can create their own top ten (or 2, 5, 20, etc.) list as well and link to the host’s. The topic for September 25th, 2018 is: Books By My Favourite Authors That I Still Haven’t Read. I’m very guilty of not reading outside of a few books that I love by the lovely humans I consider my favourite writers. Without trying to make any excuses for this unacceptable bookworm behaviour, let me show you my list.

1. The Silmarillion by J. R. R. Tolkien

I tried buddy reading this with Jenna @ Falling Letters way back in March but life got in the way and I’m only less than chapters in whereas Jenna went ahead and finished it like the conscientious reader she is.

2. Cormoran Strike series by Robert Galbraith (J. K. Rowling)

I’ve been putting this off because this obviously has a very different feel compared to Harry Potter and I don’t think I’m ready for it. I’m not sure if that makes any sense, but that’s the way I’m currently feeling.

3. Star-Touched Stories by Roshani Chokshi

This is a collection of short stories set in The Star-Touched Queen world, which takes inspiration from Indian mythology. I’ve absolutely adored Roshani’s previous two books and a chance to explore this beautiful world further is something I’m really looking forward to.

4. From Twinkle, With Love by Sandhya Menon

This came out in summer this year and I have no excuse for not having read it other than the fact that I just haven’t been in the mood to pick it up. Sandhya is one of my favourite contemporary authors, so I’m sure I’ll love this one but since I’m a huge mood reader, it has been a little difficult for me to fit this in.

5. Mirrorworld series by Cornelia Funke

I didn’t know this series existed until about a few months ago when I saw a glowing review by Cait @ Paper Fury, after which of course my curiosity was piqued. I don’t have a goal for this yet, but it’s definitely a series I want to read!

6. The Famous Five series by Enid Blyton

Yes, I’m probably too old for this now and yes, I still want to read it. I was more of a Five Find-Outers and Dog fan rather than this one as a child because I was apparently a hipster back then but this has remained on my TBR for more than ten years now.

7. The Stormlight Archives by Brandon Sanderson

I’m a huge fan of the Mistborn trilogy and I know Sanderson is a master at crafting brilliant fantasy stories. I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about this series as well but I’m just a little intimated by the size because my schedule is a mess these days.

8. The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman

I don’t think I’ve met a single person who has read Gaiman and is not impressed by him. While I feel like I’m not the biggest fan of his quirky storytelling, I really want to read all of his books.

9. A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness

He is yet another beloved author whose works I need to check out more. I fell in love with The Rest of Us Just Live Here because I read it at the perfect moment and I’m waiting for the right mood to come along to read this one as I have a feeling it will emotionally wreck me.

10. The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken

I wanted to read it in time for the movie adaptation, which came out a few months back, but I obviously didn’t make it. I’m waiting for the dystopian craving to strike me again before I pick this series up because I think I will be binging the series.
